This delicate ivory gazelle stands on a wooden pedestal with inlaid decoration depicting plants that allude to the animal's semi-desert habitat. The ears have broken off and the horns, probably of another material, are missing.
Fornerly Carnarvon Collection (acquired before 1923). Purchased by the Metropolitan Museum of Art from Almina, Countess of Carnarvon, 1926.
