This is the only intact shabti of Akhenaten that is known. Although most royal shabtis are depicted wearing the "nemes" headcloth (see 66.99.35–.36), many of Akhenaten's shabtis wear a royal head covering known as the "khat, " as shown here (see also 66.99.37; 1972.118.28).
Formerly Levy de Benzion Collection, Cairo, by 1947. Later, collection Jack Josephson, New York (acquired from Dikran Kelekian, New York). Given to the Museum by Mr. and Mrs. Josephson, 1982. Published in MMA Notable Acquisitions 1981-82.
