The coverlet's linen ground is appliquéd with linen and cotton and embroidered with silk. The piece is decorated with a complex design of a central vase of flowers on a landscape decorated with people and animals. There is an appliquéd floral border. The appliques that are not figures cut from chintz are embroidered in silk with buttonhole stitch. The coverlet is neither filled nor quilted; the top is attached to the back at the edges and also by one row of stitching about two inches in from the edge.
