The form and decoration of this helmet relate closely to the late work of Kolman Helmschmid and early pieces by his son Desiderius, both leading armorers who worked for the Habsburg court. The etching is in the style of Daniel Hopfer (1470–1536), a prolific Augsburg printmaker and armor decorator.
