  • Description

The three heads and six arms-four of which hold a bow and arrow, a sword, and a lotus-identify this sculpture as an Esoteric Buddhist form of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Transcendent Wisdom. The elaborate architectural setting is surmounted by five stupas, within which sit small duplicates of the main image. A frieze at the bottom shows a group of donors and worshipers adoring the bodhisattva.
