This Buddha exemplifies many of the stylistic characteristics that typify Mon-Dvaravati-period production. He stands with his right shoulder uncovered, and while his garments are clearly visible, their smooth, understated treatment draws attention to the Buddha's idealized physical form, which is a metaphor for enlightenment. He has a rather broad face, full, rimmed lips, elongated eyes, and eyebrows that join in a sharp ridge to form an arc with a triple curve.
