Pietà, ca. 1395–1400, Bohemia. The Cloisters Collection, 2001 (2001.78)
Seated on a plain, shallow bench, the sorrowing Virgin gazes at the broken body of Christ spread across her lap. Carved from a shallow block of limestone, this sculpture evokes a mood of quiet resignation.

Location: Glass Gallery, The Cloisters, Fort Tryon Park
