Description

The room's original rear-parlor suite, which includes two armchairs, two side chairs, a sofa, an overmantel mirror, and window cornices, is attributed to John Jelliff and Company, a leading cabinetmaking firm based in Newark, New Jersey. Like the armchair, all the furniture from the original room is upholstered in modern red satin, in keeping with an 1870 newspaper account that describes the furniture as "generally being covered with scarlet satin."
