Navigating Virtual Reality Rooms and Objects

Please note that the Verplanck Room will be temporarily closed to the public through Fall 2008.
This room unites the eighteenth-century possessions of the well-to-do Verplancks of New York City with a room from the Orange County, New York, home of the Coldens, another prominent pre–Revolutionary War family. As you will see in the sections on other rooms in this Web site, period rooms often bring together elements from several sources to evoke a particular design sensibility or cultural context.

Enter the room to discover how it expresses the ways of life and artistic sensibilities of the City of New York of centuries ago and follow the links to more extensive historical and cultural information.
