Special Announcement
The Musical Instrument Galleries have reopened following an eight-month hiatus. The European musical instruments have been reinstalled with new lighting and a reworking of several displays. The galleries continue to display a selection of musical instruments from around the world, spanning a time period from about the third century to the present. See Now at the Met to read more about this project. Tours of the galleries are offered Wednesday through Friday at 12:15 p.m. Visitors may also see objects from the collection in the special exhibition "Sounding the Pacific: Musical Instruments of Oceania" (through September 6, 2010).
