Diwali 2008

In honor of Diwali, the Indian "Festival of Lights," a colorful dance performance was presented to visitors on the evening of October 11, 2008. The festivities began with a dance number by Neha Multani—Maaza Miss India New York—and continued with a performance of the Ramayana dance-drama by the East-West School of Dance Company.

The evening was the culmination of a daylong Diwali program, organized by the Multicultural Audience Development Initiative and Education, which included kuchipudi dance performances and workshops hosted by Kantham Chatlapalli and students from her Shree Natya Niketan School of Dance. Other family activities focused on Indian artistic traditions such as rangoli (sand painting).
