Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education

The Uris Center for Education is designed to accommodate large conferences as well as intimate meetings stylishly and efficiently. The Center contains approximately 25,000 square feet of lecture halls, seminar rooms, art studios, and large meeting/reception spaces, and is equipped with state-of-the-art media technology and wireless Internet access.

Uris Center staff is available to assist during all phases of event planning, and will work with you to accommodate all your media technology needs and event logistics. They can also help arrange catering, group gallery tours, and other services to enhance your event experience.

Art Study Room

This sunny, well-appointed room is perfect for lectures, symposiums, and formal receptions. The elegant, fully carpeted, and wood-paneled space offers a formal yet warm ambiance. This unique room allows for projection at the front or back.

Bonnie J. Sacerdote Lecture Hall

The Lecture Hall was designed specifically for receptions, lectures, and conference events. Five adjacent smaller spaces are suitable for break-out events and workshops (Art Study Room, Carroll Classroom, North Classroom, Seminar Room, and Studio). The media equipment in the Lecture Hall can project programming in multiple video and digital formats as well as 16mm film.

Carroll Classroom

Carroll Classroom serves double duty: It can be used as a meeting or seminar room or an art studio. It is a flexible space that contains two sinks, cork tile floors, and magnetic walls for displaying artwork or signage.

North Classroom

Located just off of the Museum's 81st Street entrance, the North Classroom has the most direct gallery access of all the Uris Center rooms. This stylish, carpeted room is the ideal rental space for groups with special needs, or for events incorporating gallery tours. Large windows on Fifth Avenue supply plenty of natural light.

Seminar Room

An elegant mini-lecture hall, this fully carpeted room is best suited for intimate seminars, meetings, and lectures.

Studio

This bright space is specifically designed to accommodate art-making workshops and artist demonstrations. The Studio has two sinks and polished cork floors to facilitate the easy cleanup of art materials, and also features magnetic walls for displaying artwork or signage. It is the only Uris Center room that can be set up with smaller tables and child-sized stools to create a wonderful work space for young budding artists.

Media Specifications

Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education

All of the Uris Center's rooms are equipped with electronic, ceiling-mounted front-projection screens. In addition to a front-projection screen at the back of the room, the Art Study Room also has a rear-projection screen at the front.

All rooms have permanently installed Panasonic DLP projectors that can display at a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. The projectors can accommodate all popular display resolutions on Mac or PC computers. 

Windows PC computers, DVD players, Blu-ray disc players, and slide projectors are available for use in all rooms. In Sacerdote Lecture Hall, 16mm film can also be projected. All rooms are equipped with wired and wireless microphones and ceiling-mounted speakers.

There are state-of-the art "smart" podiums in all Uris Center rooms. All laptops, tablets, and USB flash drives can be connected at and projected from the podium. The Uris Center media staff can supply many types of laptop and tablet connectors, but not all; check with the Uris Center staff prior to your program to ensure that we have the connecting cable or adapter for your laptop or tablet. If we do not, you must supply a compatible VGA adapter.
