Extravagant Inventions: The Princely Furniture of the Roentgens

Visit this exhibition with conservator Mechthild Baumeister and curator Wolfram Koeppe, and encounter the innovative designs and intriguing mechanical devices of the Roentgen cabinetmaking firm, which revolutionized French and English furniture. Note: Limited to twenty-five people; tickets are distributed ten minutes prior to the tour at the program meeting point. Assistive listening devices are available.

Start with a book, then learn to look! After hearing a story in the library's special corner for kids, head to the galleries on a treasure hunt. For families with children ages 3 through 7. With Stuart W. Pyhrr, Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Curator in Charge of the Department of Arms and Armor, encounter outstanding masterpieces from the Met's collection of arms and armor, one of the richest and most extensive in the world. This gallery talk is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Bashford Dean and the Creation of the Arms and Armor Department. Assistive listening devices are available.

Museum-trained volunteers offer daily highlights tours of The Cloisters museum and gardens, the branch of the Museum in northern Manhattan devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe, to introduce visitors to the collection as a whole or to specific departments or themes.
