This drawing is the only work in this installation with a linen rather than paper support, suggesting that it was actively used in the lampshade production process as a template for assembling the “Fruit” shade. Like the drawing of the “Snowball” shade (67.654.468), it is a watercolor study for a lampshade, but since the shade would ultimately have a cone shape, the openings to accommodate the curvature of the lamp appear at the bottom of the image.
