Photograph of design for single mosaic panel for "Te Deum Laudamus" triptych

This design for the left panel of the "Te Deum Laudamus" triptych represents a major evolution from the earlier sketch (67.654.318). Key details of the landscape have been revised and refined, notably the architecture and the ground beneath the choristers’ feet. Here the individual mosaic tesserae have been drawn in, as they are in the drawing for Mrs. Edward Van Ingen’s memorial panel. This photograph represents the final version of the design, which was probably a full-color presentation drawing. When the mosaics went on display at Tiffany Studios in 1922, before they were sent to the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles, a similar photograph was published in newspapers and art journals. The photograph was also used in promotional materials produced by Tiffany Studios, including a pamphlet given to Los Angeles churchgoers as a memento of the triptych’s dedication.
