Several chairs in the Hoentschel collection boast distinguished provenances. This armchair once belonged to Louise-Élisabeth, eldest daughter of Louis XV, who commissioned furnishings in Paris for her palace in Parma, Italy.
Marking: I I I (incised on back seat rail under slip seat); 99 or 66 (painted twice on back seat rail below slip seat); C(crown)R4865 (branded on the underside of the front seat rail and again on the wood frame of the slip seat - stands for Casa Reale ["Royal Household"]).
