This teakettle is engraved with the arms of the Bisshopp family of Parham Park, Sussex.
Inscription: Motto: PRO DEO ET ECCLESIA [trans.: For God and the Church]
Marking:  Leopard's head crowned (London assay office mark);  O (London date letter for 1749–50);  Lion passant (English quality mark for sterling);  TH, pellet between, in reserve (maker's mark for Thomas Heming, entered. 1745).
