Dining table

ca. 1770–80
Not on view
This dining table may have been commissioned by Lionel Tollemache, 5th Earl of Dysart for the Marble Dining Room at Ham House, outside London. Consisting of three sections—a central part with two rectangular drop leaves—and fluted legs topped by carved paterae, the table’s streamlined, Neoclassical design draws attention to the subtle variations of its polished mahogany surface.
