This scene is a replica of one of a series of reliefs on the bronze grille by Pietro Francavilla that encloses the Stone of Unction in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem, commissioned by Grand Duke Ferdinando I de' Medici in 1588. Fra Domenico Portigiani was paid in 1596 for the casting of relief on the grille.
