Specialized in flower painting, Tandart decorated not only useful wares such as tea services but also a number of large furniture plaques with ribbon-tied bouquets. The open shelves would have been used for the display of decorative objects, such as mounted vases, or cups and saucers.
Signature: Once on each back stile near the top, with the joined initials of the cabinetmakers' jury: M. CARLIN

Marking: Painted on reverse of central circular plaque: [1] row of three dots (decorator's mark for Tandart); [2] B (gilder's mark for Boulanger)

Painted on reverse of spandrel plaques: [1] crossed L's enclosing X (Sèvres factory mark and date letter for 1775); [2] an ermine (gilder's mark for Choisy)

Incised on reverse of frieze plaques: C (probably potter's mark)
