Located at Fifth Avenue and Seventieth Street, the Richard Morris Hunt Memorial was unveiled in 1898 in honor of Hunt (1827–1895), the architect who designed the central facade of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Hunt Memorial is flanked by allegorical representations of the sister arts: Painting and Sculpture on the left and Architecture on the right. In this maquette, or sketch model, Architecture holds a small representation of Hunt’s Administration Building for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago.
