Pair of gloves

British

Not on view

The wide wrist gauntlets of this pair of gloves are decorated with stitches and motifs also found on purses of the period. In addition, the gold and silver bobbin lace trim is also similar to that found on some embroidered jackets. The delicacy of the decoration on these gloves emphasizes the fact that they were intended as decorative accessories rather than practical gloves for protection from severe weather.
