The decoration of the sword guard (tsuba) and scabbard incorporates the apricot blossom badge of the Nabeshima family, daimyo (lords) of norther Kyushu.
Inscription: Inscribed on the tang of the blade: 備前國住雲次造 (Bizen no Kuni jū Unji tsukuru) (Made by Unji, residing in Bizen Province [present-day Okayama Prefecture]); on the shibabiki: 俊哉 (Toshiya*); on the sword guard (tsuba) 廉乗作 光晃(花押) (Renjō saku Mitsuakira (kaō)).
