Exchange Place

1933
Not on view
A cropped contact print from an 8 by 10 inch negative, this narrow photograph of a canyon in the financial district was taken as part of an exhaustive survey of New York architecture that Abbott undertook in the 1930s. The photographs were exhibited in 1932, 1934, and 1937 at The Museum of the City of New York-in the last instance as "Changing New York," under the auspices of the Federal Art Project of the Works Project Administration.
