[Le Colonnacce, Rome]

ca. 1855
Not on view
This photograph by an unknown British maker was discovered at Malmsbury House, an estate near Talbot’s ancestral home in Wiltshire, England. Depicting the distinctive columns of the Temple of Minerva in the Forum of Nerva, the composition emphasizes the sometimes incongruous coexistence of past and present in the Eternal City.
