Walker Evans collected, classified, and grouped together these postcards.

After Evans's death, Lesley Baier, a graduate student at Yale, reorganized his collection of postcards. She created both sub categories and new categories. Included with this lot is an index card inscribed in Baier's hand: "Advertising," which came to the Museum grouped with the cards.

All of these cards are very fragile and most of them are not postcards.
