The Pont de la Mulatiere traversed the Saône at its confluence with the Rhône, and connected the Gare de Perrache with the Rhône lines of the right bank, such as those linking Lyon with Givors and Saint-Etienne. The pattern of strong shadows and reflections is particularly striking in this photograph, and the vignetting of the lower corners helps focus one's attention on the central motif. [MD]
