The photograph in the center of this page, showing a pair of pants and a jacket suspended above the sidewalk, was reproduced in the June 1929 issue of the Belgian quarterly magazine transition. The photograph in the lower left corner depicts S. Klein, a popular department store on Union Square that stayed in business for sixty-five years before it finally closed its doors in 1975.
