This letter from George Washington to Governor George Clinton of New York (1739–1812) was written by Tench Tilghman, aide-de-camp to General Washington. It is dated "Head Quarters, New Windsor, 19 December, 1780." The letter requests that workmen at the armory in Albany be exempted from service in the Militia.
