Plaque of a Young Man

Egyptian

Not on view

Long catalogued as a representation of a young man at a banquet, the iconography of this bone plaque is partially obscured due to accretions on the surface and losses along the lower half of the composition and the top edges. The Kelekian bone plaque, with its classical content and early Christian date, speaks directly to the multifaceted identities of people in the late antique world.
