Inscription: Annotated in pen and brown ink with the "Resta-Somers" mark along the center of the lower border: "g. 88." Annotated in pen and black-brown ink on the lower border of the mount in the hand of Jonathan Richardson, Sr.: "Andrea Mantegna." Annotated on the verso of the mount along the top also by Richardson with shelf numbering: "M. 56." Additional explanatory notes on provenance (with out of date references) written by modern hand in graphite.
