A section of text has been removed from the tablet at top. According to the catalogue raisonné (DeGrazia Bohlin 1979) it should read: 'LA GIERVSALEMME / LIBERATA / DI TORQVATO TASSO / Con le Figure di Bernardo / CASTELLO; / E le Annotationi di Scipio / GENTILI, e di Giulio / GVASTAVINI.'
Inscription: Lettered at top around portrait: 'TORQVATO TASSO'; in tablet at center in pen and brown ink: 'Le Figure di Berardo ... / ... Torquato Tasso.' lettered beneath: 'IN GENOVA . M.D.LXXXX.'
