Signature: None. From a folding album only on the end sheet, JP 539.

Inscription: An inscription by a former owner shows that the print was examined on the 14th day of the 8th month of An-ei 8 (September 23, 1779) by the 1st Bando Mitsugoro who correctly identified Ikushima Shingoro, but mistook Ogino Yaegiri for Fuimura Handayu, another well-known actor of the same period, who also played women's roles and used a mon somewhat similar to that of Yaegiri, yet not sufficiently alike to account for the mistake.

Marking: The large red seal that appears on the print is that of the 19th century artist Kyosai, and the oval one is that of his contemporary, Wakai, the well-known Tokyo print dealer.
