Inscription: Inscriptions written by a former owner on or about 1779 identify the actor at the right as "Mihogi" and the actor at the left correctly as "Ganso" (literally "originator," i.e. the first of the name) Nakamura Shichisaburo. The actor holding the puppets is not named.
