Harry B. Wehle. The Metropolitan Museum of Art: A Catalogue of Italian, Spanish, and Byzantine Paintings. New York, 1940, p. 222, ill., attributes this picture to an unknown Castilian painter and dates it to the end of the 15th century.

Chandler Rathfon Post. A History of Spanish Painting. Vol. 9, The Beginning of the Renaissance in Castile and Leon. Cambridge, Mass., 1947, part 2, pp. 680, 686–87, fig. 282, attributes this picture to the Osma Master, commenting on similarities to his Saint Agatha Enthroned (Museum of Catalan Art, Barcelona), and comparing the haloes in his retable at Burgo de Osma to that of the Christ Child in our picture; notes that the faces of Saint Anne and the angels reveal a dependence on the Luna Master.

Eric Young. Letter to Mary Sprinson. December 27, 1982, confirms his attribution of this picture to the Osma Master.
