New York. Wheelock Whitney & Company. "Nineteenth-Century European Paintings," October 27–November 25, 1987, no. 11.

Nineteenth Century European Paintings. Exh. cat., Wheelock Whitney & Company. New York, 1987, unpaginated, no. 11, ill. (color), as "Landscape," by Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps; calls it a study for "Paysage. Saül" of about 1853 (Museé du Louvre, Paris).

This painting was formerly attributed to Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps (French, Paris 1803–1860 Fontainebleau) and thought to be a study for Landscape: Saul Pursuing David (Musée du Louvre, Paris, on deposit at Musée d'Orsay). It is now considered to be a copy, with the figures omitted.
