Inscription: Definition: Arabic
Translation: "In the name of God, the Merciful and Compassionate. Learning (?) is from God. The Caliph Ja'far the Imam al-Muktadir bi'allah, Commander of the Faithful...May God prolong (his days). This is what was ordered...the year (3)08 (A.D. 920-21)."
Notes: The 3 is omitted from the date as written but the presence of the caliph's name makes it obvious that 308 is intended.
