Inscription: Inscribed under the subject beneath a margin line, about 11 mm from the bottom edge: 3 palme hooge / 2 palme breet (painted over).
On the verso, a fabric label reads: Countess of Strafford / 28 March 1923, with 1205 and 126 (the latter presumably the MMA accession number) added in pen.
