ca. 1550–60
Culture:
Italian, Urbino
Medium:
Maiolica (tin-glazed earthenware)

Height: 6 1/8 in. (15.6 cm)
Classification:
Ceramics-Pottery
Credit Line:
Robert Lehman Collection, 1975
Accession Number:
1975.1.1127
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 521
Supposedly Hessisches Landesmuseum, Darmstadt; private collection, Frankfurt am Main (sale, Helbing, Frankfurt, May 22-24, 1933, lot 419, ill.). Only those lots marked with a cross in the Helbing catalogue came from the collection of "Schloss B." (Count Oriola Büdesheim). As the entries for the candlesticks are not so marked, the suggestion in the Robert Lehman files that they may have come from that collection is unfounded.
