The Metropolitan purchased this extravagant glass bowl, with its discrete
yet somewhat disturbing snake motif, directly from Ruhlmann’s pavilion at
the 1925 exposition. It was probably part of a large selection of glass and
ceramics displayed in the entrance hall.
Marking: Impressed on side of bowl, near bottom, within a shell shape: DECORCHEMENT
the designer (1925; sold to MMA)
