Komabue

Japanese

Not on view

Similar to the ryūteki but smaller and with six fingerholes instead of the larger flute's seven. It is used in the komagaku (Korean derived music) of gagaku. Side blown or transverse flutes like this one is used in ensembles and are seldom played as a solo instrument like the end blown shakuhachi.
