Inscription: Translation of inscription: over the portrait is written "Imperial Ordinance to the Lord Fan Zhongyen: We appreciate thy meritorious services extended to the two reigns as a general in the field and as a minster at home. You have done your duty directed by the gods and spirits of rivers and mountains. Hereby we confer upon thee a special gift." Proclaimed on the day, 8th month, first year of the Xining, 1068. Over the date is a square seal which reads: "Treasure of the Imperial Household".
