This painted shabti box was found in the tomb of Yuya and Tjuyu in the Valley of the Kings. Although not of royal lineage, as in-laws of the king, Yuya and his wife Tjuyu were given a sumptuous burial in the royal cemetery. Three exquisitely carved shabtis (30.8.56–.58) in the collection and a second shabti box (30.8.60) are also from this tomb.
