This handsome figure was excavated among burials in reused tombs south of the Step Pyramid. The figure had traces of a pitch or bitumen coating in areas, has an integral tang beneath the feet, and a hole for an attribute on its head: all these features point to its likely having been a figure of Ptah-Sokar Osiris.
