Buffalo Pendant

Tussian peoples(?)

Not on view

Among the Tussian peoples of Southwestern Burkina Faso, buffaloes are associated with ideas of leadership and prestige. Prominently featured on masks that relate to initiation into the important Do association, these animals can also be found adorning pendants and amulets, worn around the neck or belt.
