Plate 2 of a series of designs for mantelpieces. This plate shows two variants of a mantelpiece. The left side is more subdued, the right more exuberant. However, on both sides are musical trophies decorating spandrels. To this, on the right, are added strapwork, a mascaron, a vase, a console, garlands and a figurative frieze.
