The identity of the animal on this rank badge is not completely clear. Most of its characteristics match those of a qilin-head like a dragon, two horns, scales on its body, tail like a Chinese lion's, and hooves. However, the animal's legs are very short by comparison with those of a more typical qilin, such as 36.65.6.
