This small gilt-bronze vessel, called kundika in Sanskrit, is a ritual implement used to sprinkle water in Buddhist ceremonies. Although East Asian kundika more often take the shape of long-necked bottles, examples like this one, with its short, bulbous body, are also found. A kundika is one of the eighteen implements that Buddhist monks and nuns need in order to perform their duties.
