Bus Stop with Sea Spray, Governors Island
Known for her serene imagery and incisive eye for detail, Kereszi has photographed junkyards, burlesque clubs, haunted houses, and other abandoned or desolate sites. In 2003 Kereszi and the photographer Andrew Moore were commissioned by the Public Art Fund to document Governors Island, a former U.S. army base in New York Harbor. After the military base closed but before the island was redeveloped as a public park, they photographed its architecture and landscape devoid of inhabitants. This photograph of a bus stop with a shelter erected to shield waiting passengers from the ocean's spray was featured on the cover of the book published about the project in 2005.
