Sofa

American

Not on view

When acquired in 1939, this superbly carved sofa still retained its original claret-colored wool velvet cover, which served as the basis for the current (modern) upholstery. Noteworthy is the unusual trimming of rich stamped brass, rather than the woven galloon or series of brass-headed nails that were customary in this period.
